East Asian culture and international relations 世界各地學者雲集浸大 探討東亞文化與國際關係
The China Studies Programme, the Advanced Institute for
Contemporary China Studies, the Department of History and the Modern History
Research Centre of HKBU joined hands with the School of Social Sciences of
Tsinghua University and Central Washington University to hold the “Second
Conference on East Asian Culture and International Relations” in mid-April.
The conference, which aimed at serving as a scholarly platform for sharing
different ideas and network building for further research and academic
collaboration, was attended by over 70 scholars and researchers from around the
world. During the conference, they explored East Asian culture and
international relations from different perspectives.
Mr. Andy Lee, Vice-President (Administration) and Secretary, delivered the
opening remarks. Keynote speeches were delivered by two renowned scholars.
Professor Tam Yue-him of Macalester College, USA, addressed the new trends in
East Asian culture and international relations. Professor Togo Tsukahara of
Kobe University, Japan, spoke on “East Asian STS, a new academic challenge: its
scope and perspective.”
A total of 16 panels were held which covered the themes of Contemporary
Northeastern Asian Relations, Studies in Regional Perspectives of the
Commercial Press, Studies in Print Culture of the Commercial Press, Studies in
Economic Opportunities in 21st Century China, Re-forming and Re-inventing
Traditions in East Asia, Socio-Economic Conditions in 21st Century China,
Beyond Eating and Drinking: Food Culture, Identity and Coloniality, Languages,
Texts and East Asian Cultures, Macao studies, Japanese and Korean Popular
Culture in Hong Kong, Modern Chinese Diplomatic Relationship, War and
Civilization, Studies in Ming Qing History, Medical History in Modern East
Asia, East Asian Culture and International Relations in the Medieval Age, and
Changes and Continuities in Culture and Value.
浸大的中國研究課程、當代中國研究所、歷史系和近代史研究中心，於四月中與清華大學社會科學學院及美國中央華盛頓大學合辦「第二屆東亞文化與國際關係研討會」。
是次研討會為各地學者及研究員提供學術平台，發表研究成果、砥礪互勉，並藉此交流中西方學者對有關東亞文化與國際關係議題的意見及看法，有來自本港及世界各地超過七十名學者與研究員出席。
大會邀得行政副校長暨秘書長李兆銓先生致開幕辭，以及兩位著名學者作主題演講。美國默士達學院歷史系譚汝謙教授主講「樹立全球文化交流新秩序：從近三十年東亞文化與國際關係研究的新動向說起」，而神戸大學國際文化學部塚原東吾教授的講題為「East Asian STS, a new
academic challenge: its scope and perspective」。
為期兩天的會議進行了十六節討論，學者就以下議題進行深入及具體的討論: 當代東北亞外交關係、區域視野下的商務印書館研究、印刷文化與商務印書館研究、二十一世紀中國經濟的新機遇、東亞傳統之再造、二十一世紀中國的社會經濟狀況：食物文化、身份認同、殖民性和語言、文本與東亞文化、澳門研究、香港的日韓潮流文化、現代中國外交關係、戰爭與文明、明清史研究、東亞醫療史、中世紀東亞文化及國際關係、文化和價值的承傳與改變等。http://hkbuenews.hkbu.edu.hk/?t=enews_details/601

2014年度工学部第一部、「科学技術と社会」、第9回。
6月6日（金曜）、「第三世界と科学技術社会論」
（概要） 科学は、どのような「空間」で営まれること構想しているのだろう。
技術は、どのように「空間」の広がりをとらえるのだろう。
この講義では、まず、科学がそもそも「空間」をどうとらえて来たかを、「ガリレオ以来の科学」がもつ歴史の問題として考えてみる。ガリレオ以来、人類は、なにかを「ひきづって」きている。
それは何なのだろう？ここでキーワードになるのは、「イン・ヴィヴォ、イン・ヴィトロ」問題と呼ばれる問題でもある。
そして、それを、第三世界の問題、いわゆるグローバルで「プラネタリイ」な、３つの問題（人口、食料、環境）を例に、適応して考え直してみる。
そもそも、近代科学や技術は、「空間」の捉え方が、基本的に、（ガリレオ以来）、どこかで、「間違っている（た）」のでは？という疑問を立ててゆく。科学者の「規範論」と呼ばれる、マートンとザイマンのテーゼも紹介しながら、
現代社会の国際問題ともなっている科学技術の問題を考えてみたい。

この本は、日本のマルクス主義技術論論争から書き起こしている本で、 日本の植民地におけ る地域開発（とくにダム建設、野口による日本窒素の朝鮮でのプロジェクトなど）を論じてい て出色です。ムーア氏の仕事の優れた点として、 以下の3点が特に挙げられます。
(1)日本の技術論論争史を「帝国」の観点で再配置し、この時代の思想状況を分析していること。
(2)日本の東アジア帝国における技術のテクノ・ポリティカルな性格への着目。
(3)戦後のODAとの「連続性」を指摘し、総力戦体制という動員論だけでは収まりきれない、 技術史（科学史）的な性格を指摘していること。
今回、アーロン・ムーア氏を招き、日本科学技術史・経済史の研究者や ODA研究者とともに、 これらの論点を軸として、 議論を進めていきたいと思います。
